    StoryFusion Cabaret! Presents...

    7:30 p.m.

Come By Wagon, Come By Streetcar: Welcome to a Rendez-Vous!

…with Stories and Songs from the French-Canadian Repertoire

Featuring Judith Poirier, dynamic storyteller, operatic and traditional singer from Montreal,

    and Franco-Ontarian group Ariko.

Come join this bilingual evening inspired by the francophone P'tits bals à l'huile, an expression used up to the 1950s to describe a spontaneous large gathering to sing, tell stories, dance and play music all evening in someone's home as long as the oil in the lamp would last.

At every occasion, Judith Poirier’s tales offer delight and wisdom, always with a touch of unexpected delicious spices.

Ariko reaches into its quiver of tunes spiced with a mix of bilingual, traditional and original material. Their fiddle-based music takes you on a journey with a repertoire that is energetic and rich in harmonies.

Canadian Storytelling Night! Let the Fur Fly.

    7 p.m.

    Canadian Storytelling Night Concert

In its fourth year, Canadian Storytelling Night is a national event, which has grown significantly, gathering tellers and audiences to hear Canadian tales by Canadian tellers.

This year, Durham Folklore Storytellers are hosting their first Canadian storytelling concert on Friday, November 6, at the St. Francis Centre for Community, Arts and Culture, 78 Church St. S. in Ajax. There is an afternoon performance for school children from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm and a Canadian Storytelling Night Concert for adults and older children from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. What a great way to start the winter storytelling season!

Donations of non-perishable food items or money for the local food bank are gratefully accepted. There are also snack bar items available for purchase. Otherwise, the event is free of charge.

Many thanks to the support from Impact Ajax and Storytellers of Canada–Conteurs du Canada for their contributions towards this great Canadian event.
