Kent PS students enjoyed Folktales, Personal stories and Myths and Legends in June 2013
A full day in Cambellford included JK – Grade 8 for their special Literacy event. I was proud to be selected to join the roster of authors and storytellers to help celebrate with their Ibby Award funding!
Myths and Legends a big hit at Queen Elizabeth PS in Oshawa
Last week was a special day at Queeen Elizabeth Public School in Oshawa where I was invited to tell to all grades during the day. Especially wonderful was my visit with grades 7 & 8 students. They had read Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and seen the movie, so I focused on stories in traditional Myths and Legends where the characters and circumstances were similar. The students’ comments were reflective and respectful of oral tradition, and they seemed genuinely enlightened. They gave a big thumbs up!
Text Art Exhibit and Storytelling
I was proud to be the FIRST storyteller hired for a full month residency. It was an interesting, creative opportunity for schools in Durham Region who were bussed to the gallery each week.
‘Reading The Image’ – The binding theme is ‘Time’ pulled from John Di Leonardo’s visual art work (which includes the statement ‘Man is a Book of Hours in Time’…..all the other artists work relates to how we spend and value time.
